Visitors to 50,000 FREE WALLPAPERS over the past few days may have noticed that thumbnails for quite a few galleries are missing. Unfortunately, this is a situation beyond my control.
My image host recently had a server crash. This was caused by their disk-space monitoring software mistakingly saying they had lots of free disk space when their drives were in fact full. Eventually, everything crashed as so many people were uploading images, but the server had no space to write the new files to.
The good news is that, after attaining some new storage drives, uploading of galleries will recommence within the next day or so, and I will be posting lots of new wallpapers.
But the bad news is that the crash caused the image files stored on one drive to become corrupted. These were images uploaded before November, 2007. A fair portion of the pictures on 50,000 FREE WALLPAPERS are from that period. Hopefully the images will be recovered, but I have a "Plan B" if they are not salvageable.
I still have almost all of my wallpapers on my PC's hard drive. If the missing images can't be recovered, I will just re-upload the missing galleries. It will give me a chance to tidy up my site a little too.
If you find that a gallery on 50,000 FREE WALLPAPERS is not available, then that means it is an "old" gallery. Instead, try viewing the newest gallery of that subject - there is no problem with galleries uploaded in the past 4 months, so in most cases you should be able to download your favorite wallpapers.
Again, I do apologise for any inconvenience this glitch may cause. But even if worst comes to worst, I do have images stored locally, so it won't take long to fix everything.
